Stamtavla
Lotus is breed by Gertrud Claesson at the small kennel Saltsjöborgs near Gothenburg in the south west of Sweden. He was born on the 26th of May 1996. Gertrud is a dog physiotherapist and she has helped Lotus so he can compete actively, despite his hip dysplasia.
I was persuaded to take a look at a Border collie litter; I had actually decided to get a Rottweiler. When I met the puppies and their mother I fell in love. The small panda with a blue eye was not a difficult choice! ;-) I picked him up when he was eight weeks old and he then spent his first four weeks on a sailing boat.
Lotus is a once in a life time dog. He is 100% willing to work and he is mentally strong. He always wants to do his best and he understands my every thought. He has great integrity and dignity and he is very social. He thinks a lot, in his own way!
We have been to sheep trials and he became a certificated sheep dog at his first competition. He now only works the sheep at home and his “baby brother” has taken over the trials.
Lotus is my first agility dog, but we actually started out in obedience. He has got two obedience certificates. Since then I simply haven’t had time to compete in obedience, but I will try to find some spare time for it again soon. I started with agility when Lotus was one year old and my trainer was Irene Stjärnås. She gave us a very good foundation and she has encouraged us through our whole career.
We qualified as reserves in the national team for the Nordic championships in 1999. The following year we got a general place and since then we have qualified every year, except 2004 when Lotus was injured. In 2001 we won the individual WC-Gold in Portugal and Gold in team at the Nordic championship in Stockholm. In March 2002 we went, as the first Swedish partnership ever, to Crufts in England where we won the international competition. In Sweden he has been the agility dog of the year and the most popular agility dog of the year several times and he has won competitions in Italy, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Holland. Without a doubt a fabulous dog!
Lotus has been everywhere with me through the years. He has been at old people’s home, veterinary clinics, stables and at the school with children, where ever he has been he has fitted in and been an asset to the activities.
Despite Lotus hip dysplasia and considerable age, we still practise regularly in small doses and compete at top level. To maintain his good fitness level I keep him activated as much as possible, always careful to warm him up and make sure he gets the best food possible. Every day we take long walks in the woods and regularly practise sheep herding and agility.
Lotus eats ANF HOLISTIC from Lupus foder Ltd. It’s very important to me that my dogs get the best possible food in order for them to feel good and stay healthy so that they can perform as well as possible. I am extremely pleased with ANF and I can see that it actually works.
If you want to know more or if you have any questions about ANF, do not hesitate to contact me or someone at Lupus!
